Driving Inclusive Excellence: Experts Unite for HP2032+ Sport Strategy

Leading Australian human-rights, inclusive design, and diversity, equity and inclusion experts have joined forces to assist the Australian High Performance system to increase awareness and embed inclusive design within Australia’s high performance environments.

The aim of the Inclusive Design enabler is to design programs, initiatives, and services with considerations for all users and the full range of human diversity.

The Inclusive Design Working Groups objectives are to develop a definition that is reflective and representative of Australia’s High Performance sport system, map and model the maturity of inclusive design practice across the system, develop and implement training to increase inclusive design literacy and practice, and to advise project leads how to embed inclusive design within the respective HP2032+ Activities that are required to be delivered in Horizon One.

The groups expertise covers gender equality, intersectionality, LGBTIQ+ inclusion, human rights, inclusive design, universal design, disability inclusion, accessibility, cultural empowerment, social impact, high performance sport, sport development, athlete wellbeing, strategy implementation and justice and healing.

As stated on page 39 of the HP2032+ Sport Strategy, ‘the journey is a long one, opportunities will be maximised overtime and for the system to change, everyone will need to play a role’.
